Taken at the local park on the Neckar River while I was on reserve duty with the US Army. This was the year Italy won the World Cup with Paolo Rossi (versus Germany). I had to sit in a German bar quietly rooting for Italy during the final. Scanned from print.

Oh I used to hate fishing. My Father would take us out with him when we were little. We had to sit quietly for hours so not to "scare" the fish . My brother and I hated it and always ended up messing and playing about. One day my father got so angry he picked us both up and threw us in the pond. BRRRRRRRR it was freezing.

Sail-gliding at Lac Kir in Dijon (yes, that's where they got the name of the mustard!). I was lucky to have a pretty young girl to complement the photo. Taken on Ektachrome slide film, which I just scanned only 5 years ago. Ektachrome was the only color film I used at that time which kept 90% of its color for the past 40 years. Why Ektachrome, because I could process it myself in a home darkroom.

I think a lot of these 80's and 90's color shots I wouldn't have taken if I couldn't have processed Ektachrome myself. It was very nitpicky on time and temperature however. It also didn't react well to dirt in the chemicals and wash water. (You see - I really did my own darkroom work!)

A very sweet 19-year-old kid working at the Hotel Merkur in Landstuhl. She gave me a big hug after these photos. I was in Landstuhl working as an electrical contractor at the US Regional Medical Center. For me, college-age girls are still "kids"; that's why my photography of them didn't change much from taking photos of younger kids.

One of many photos I took in Valletta Malta when I arrived there with the USS Little Rock, the Sixth Fleet flagship. Carmino was a beautiful child. [OMG, I forgot I'm NOT supposed to appreciate beauty!] Malta is halfway between Sicily and the Arabic countries of North Africa; you can see the mixture in his features. I wonder what he looks like now after half a century?

Some kids are just naturally photogenic, I love his expression and wish there was more. I like how kids live life as it's meant to be, but as we grow up I feel like we lose that part of us, no mater how much we try to recapture we never can. I'm so glad you are able to capture that moment for him.

Taken with a Leica M2 and 50mm Summicron (just like Henri Cartier Bresson)

A nice impression of a boy who looks a bit "rebellious" into the camera because of his age... Every age has its own charm...

FYI, here's some information on Valletta: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valletta. I visited there 3 times when I was in the US Navy from 1970 -71. I wish I could find my photos of the city (only half a century has passed). I'm going to post one more photo I took near Valletta, which is more photojournalism then cute.

What's more natural than kids acting silly for the camera. I wasn't too sure if this was Pohang or Seoul (after more than 35 years), but I'm guessing Seoul.

OK, so Seoul (or Pohang?) is NOT Europe; but I didn't want to start another album.
